Etang des Caillats is situated on the same complex as Lac Tournizet in the heart of the Champagne region near the city of Vitry le Francois near the beautiful city of Vitry-le-Francois. In this city you will find all the shops, supermarkets and retaurants you need. You can also find a couple of hotels.
The lake has become very popular since we started working together with the owner, Dominique Couvez. The amount of anglers that return yearly proves this lake is something special. It is the ultimate destination for anglers who are looking for a lake to fish a socail session.
This water has built up a great reputation among returning fishermen in the last few years. The lake with its beautiful irregular shape and two peninsulas is ideal for fishing with a group. In the autumn of 2023, the owner made a dam between both swims. He did this to prevent the entire stock from being on one side of the lake, while there are no fish to catch on the other side. This has happened several times in the past. In fact, Etang des Caillats now consists of two separate lakes, both have their own stock.
Vosges
Vosges offers room for 3 anglers with a log cabin on site with electricity, a dining table and a fridge-freezer combination! This section contains a completely stock of 110 carp up to 20kg, plus perhaps a few surprises that were not seduced during the netting. We have to rebuild the stock and give the fish time to grow. If you and your buddies just want to spend a week fishing from a peninsula with a cabin at your back, then Vosges is a great place for you. We offer a serious discount for bookings in 2025!
Alsace
There are arround 120 carp up to 72b in the lake. There are no catfish or sturgeon and not a lot of silverfish because of the pike that are in the lake. Depending on the season there can be weed in the lake. Because of that we advice you to bring a boat so you can drill the fish from the boat if necessary. It is possible to rent a rowning boat.

It may be that Dominique is not present at the moment of arrival. Just drive to your swim and start fishing. No problem. The owner is not present at the complex all day long. He assumes that his guests know the rules and don’t break them.
Do not assume that Dominique will provide you with the latest tips. He is primarily the host and loves to receive guests on his lakes, but he is not a gifted carp angler! Fortunately, on our website you can get enough info for a successful week, or ask us directly. We have fished the lake several times.
You can order bread from Dominique. He will deliver them to your swim in the morning.
Rules
- Arrival on Saturday from 14:00, departure no later than 10:00 the following Saturday .
Please don’t arrive before 14:00! The group before you have exclusive use of the entire complex till Saturday 10:00. (Most of you wouldn’t like it either if next weeks group turns up early.) Give the owner the time to get ready for your arrival. -
Help us prevent problems!For Etang des Caillats from this season onwards, items such as landing nets, weighing bags, unhooking mats, cradles, waders and wading boots must first be dipped in the container with a disinfectant before going to your swim.
- Up to three rods per person.
- (Well prepared) particles are allowed.
- The use of tigernuts, and and all other nuts are prohibited.
- Only use the best quality boilies available to you. We still prefer freezer baits.
- No plastic baits. There are great pop-ups shaped as corn on the market
- Keep bags are prohibited.
- The hook wound should be treated with Klinic or a simular product.
- Only barbless hooks allowed, no circle- or long shank hooks
- No fixed leads. Only safety-rigs utilising a proper lead discharge system should be used
- Use of leadcore and leaders (of any kind) is prohibited.
- Landing net of at least 42 “is required. You must dip it on arrival.
- Bring your own unhooking mat and weigh sling. Size and quality fitting the size of our carp.
- Bait boats are allowed.
- Rods may not be left unattended.
- Main line must be at least 15 lbs.
- Open fires and barbecues are prohibited.
- Waste (separated) into the appropriate bins (including cigarette butts). Please read the intructions on site and act accordingly. The owner can get fined up to € 4000,- for not separating the waste according the law!)

Heel mooi herstel Alsace
Caillats blijft een prachtig water, en heel mooi om te zien dat het water zicht herstelt van een virus. De vis is duidelijk zwaarder geworden. Wij vingen minder dan voorheen. De constante noordenwind heeft waarschijnlijk niet geholpen maar de vis is duidelijk gegroeid. Het gemiddelde gewicht lag boven de 16kg. De vissen zien er echter super gezond uit, zijn sterk en duidelijk zwaarder geworden.
De nieuwe chalet is super de luxe! Alles is brandschoon en nieuw. Vissen met het wier was goed te doen, later in de zomer kan dit misschien wel een ding worden.
Een geweldige week
Samen met mijn zwager ging ik eind april 2025 voor de eerste keer naar Alsace. Ik had het meer eerder bekeken toen ik op Tournizet aan het vissen was. We hebben een fantastische week gehad. Goede faciliteiten, prima stekken en waanzinnig mooie vissen uit alle klassen, soorten en maten. Wel een wierrijk water waar je de plekjes moet zoeken. Drillen vanuit de boot is een aanrader. Zeker omdat je weerhaakloos vist.
We hebben 34 runs gehad en 29 vissen
geland. Lossers vanwege het wier. Dank voor de goede dagelijkse zorgen van Dominique en Henk!

Mooie week op Etang des Caillats
Wij hebben een prachtige week gehad op stek Alsace. De aanbeten kwamen vooral ‘s avonds en ‘s nachts tussen 20:00 en 08:00 en overdag was heerlijk weer z’n 30-35 graden. We hebben totaal 23 karpers gevangen met gemiddeld gewicht van ruim 15kg! De topvis van het water hebben wij gevangen op 26.6kg waar deze in het late najaar nog op ruim 30 gewogen is! Een andere topvis hebben wij zelfs 3x gevangen, buitengewoon bijzonder maar erg mooi op 25.3 kg. We hebben bijna allemaal ons pr aangescherpt en al met al een zeer geslaagde vakantie gehad! Zeker een aanrader als je met 3-4 personen wil vissen. Het bodemverloop is interessant en er zijn genoeg grindplaatjes te vinden dus neem zeker een goede prodding stick mee! Dat levert absoluut vis op. Er is ook veel witvis en de ratten vreten je aas eraf dus neem ook bait protectors mee. Wij danken Carpots! En we komen zeker nog een keer terug op het domein, er zijn daar wateren genoeg.
Was weer heerlijk
Voor de 3e keer op het domain geweest nu en het was weer genieten.
De huisjes en daarin een koelkast is echt fijn.
Domique kwam iedere ochtend ons verse brood brengen en dan ook nog mooie vissen vangen.
